CoachED
Melinda was fortunate to work in a school district that valued expanding her capacity as a leader, not only in effective instructional practices, but also in deepening her management and leadership skills. After working with an expert coach for a number of years, Melinda was selected to help outline a tiered coaching training program to implement district-wide, broadening her work as a leadership coach. She coached colleagues individually and in small groups, helping design and deliver coaching training for hundreds of educators. Her ultimate goal was to develop the leadership capacity in others.
As she continued to develop her coaching skills and help others do the same, Melinda found this new focus of her work deeply fulfilling. Her heart is full each time she witnesses a client work through a challenge during one of her coaching sessions. She finds it inspiring to see someone’s face light up when they discover a new insight or expand their perspective about a challenge they’ve been facing. Knowing that she wanted to focus her time on coaching and leadership development, Melinda decided to pursue her Leadership and Performance Coaching Certificate through the ACT Leadership program at Brown University and joined a global network of coaches through the International Coaching Federation.
Melinda founded CoachED to help other leaders who wish to improve their communication skills. While these skills are often linked to improved leadership in the workplace, she finds that coaching skills are invaluable tools that can be used across every dynamic of their personal and professional life. Through CoachED, Melinda shares key insights about what she has learned over the years and supports others who wish to explore their own journey into coaching.
In the future, Melinda plans to share digital materials that outline what coaching is (and is not), what structures to include for more effective coaching sessions, various scenarios that may be helpful, as well as an abundance of tips and tricks to help you practice your skills.
